If you know me well you know that I am late…a lot! This means that snooze usually gets hit about 15 times before my feet even dare touch the floor. Which also means bad news bears for this lion mane of mine I call my hair. Luckily, I’ve learned a few fast hairstyles that come in handy when I leave myself very little time to get out the door. I tried something new and made a few videos to help show you how. I did these in about 15 minutes when I was getting ready one day so just know that the styles in the video aren’t perfect, but the little flaws are an easy fix and you’ll get the idea haha!
The first step is checking that second (or third) day hair (it happens sometimes). My favorite right now is the Dove Beauty Refresh + Care Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo. It smells really good which helps with the no showering side of things and helps to give some lift back to the hair.
Messy Pony:
The fastest of all the styles is a messy ponytail. Backcomb the middle to add some volume, pull it back into a pony and you’re done! Let it look a little messy and pull some strands in the front or loosen the crown to have it fall a bit as shown in the picture. You can add a hair accessory to it too like a hair scarf or scrunchy as they are popular looks right now.
The Knot:
Section your hair into two sections and use each to tie a literal knot in your hair. You can tie as many knots as you like or need depending on your hair length or the look and secure with a clear elastic or bobby pin. If you have layers like me a few little strands might stick out, you can pin them or let them add to the look. Leave the strand out for a pony style, or tuck it under with a bobby pin for a bun.
The Low Fold Bun:
Ok, I made up the name cause I didn’t know what to call it but let’s roll with it. Take your hair into a low ponytail, fold your hair in half (I would suggest folding the end under) and secure it with an elastic. Take the “tail” that’s left, wrap it around the elastic and secure with a bobby pin. If you have shorter hair, keep a piece out in the front and use that to cover the elastic. To make it messy, loosen up the “fold” and let a few strands fall. You can also pull some strands out in the front to frame your face or backcomb the middle to add a little volume.
Half-up, Half-down Inverted:
Always a good go-to is the half-up, half-down hairstyle. Pull your hair back into a half-up, half-down style. This is always a winner so I’m counting that as it’s own. For another variation though, once you secure the half-up half-down, create an opening above the band sectioning the hair in two. Put the pony through the opening and readjust the elastic to hold tight. It’s a spin on the usual do but can add some natural volume. Again, just backcomb the middle if you want to add more volume and pull some strands down in the front.
Half-up, Half-down “Cheat”:
Start by backcombing the middle of your hair. Take two sections from right above your ears but a layer underneath not from the top of your head and pull them forward. Then pull those to the back and secure with bobby pins or the big clips that are trending right now like these.
BONUS:
You could also just do the last hairstyle to one side for a more sleek, classic look!
French Braid:
If you know how to braid, this is for you. I would start the braid at the crown, so not right at the front of your head. Braid down and to the side, loosen it up, pull some strands down from the front and you’re done. If you keep it loose it looks less sporty and more classy in my opinion!
Clip Bun:
This is probably the one I do the most. Gather your hair at the nape of your neck like you are going to do a low pony. Start spinning around to create a bun. Then use a large claw clip to hold your hair. Pull some strands out from the front (clearly what I do for many hairstyles) and add a statement earring if you wish. Definitely a winner!
Now you have all you need to get a little more shut-eye and still kill the hair game!
Happy snoozing!
