Just a 15-minute car trip to Minneapolis and I could delve into all the local gems the bustling town holds. But do I ever make that trip? No. Chalk it up to whatever you’d like, but there really isn’t an excuse! Luckily, thanks to a weekly promise to my friend (making the time to see each other once a week), I got the chance to change up our routine by trying something new.
Now, our plan was always to go to the farmer’s market, but I didn’t want the experience to be dull and disappointing. I wanted more than just fresh produce, I wanted something unique and special. So, I did a little research (which consisted of me asking my roommate) and found a farmer’s market that not only offers fresh produce but offers pastries, treats, homemade crafts, health and wellness items and even some entertainment.
This farmer’s market is located directly outside the front doors of a museum in the city’s downtown neighborhood. As you can see, it definitely provided that special and unique experience I was looking for (and was so worth the 15-minutes it took to get there haha)! I took home some fresh produce and some fresh flowers, creating a delicious and fresh salad for lunch while having a beautiful center piece to enjoy it with. It is a great market that brings together local farmers, small businesses, and artisans adding to our economy, community and the pride of being a local.
I encourage you to explore what your city has to offer because being local doesn’t have to be boring! So don’t be like me and wait, take advantage of where you live and go out and explore, YOU DESERVE IT!
