Save or Splurge: Over the Knee Boots

Save or Splurge: Over the Knee Boots

Welcome to the first post in my new series Save or Splurge!! First, thanks to Adrienne, for the inspiration on this series. In this series, I’m going to be sharing products that I personally love, some I own, some I’ve used in the past, and others I’ve heard good things about and want to try. I will give you the item I use, a save item, and a splurge item or something that is trending and similar for you to pick from. So, basically, I’m doing all the work for you to make sure that you can have them in your closet too! I want this to be products that I believe in so you can believe in them too!

So with that, here is my first Save or Splurge item that’s perfect for the upcoming holiday season!

Over the Knee Boots

Now, these were popular last year and are still hanging on, which I am so happy about! Given the amount of money I put down on them last year, I’m glad to be getting more bang for my buck! Now if you’re so-so on this whole trend, don’t be, there are so many different options when it comes to these boots. You can wear them with dresses for a more put together look, or wear them with your favorite jeans and sweater for a more dressed down but clean look.

My Boots

My boots are from DSW and are by Marc Fisher (black) and Unisa (brown- similar– mine are no longer sold). I didn’t originally know how to style these but have had so much fun figuring it out! Both of these are super comfortable, I wore them for hours and never once felt like I needed to take them off. They are a little bit on the pricey end but the quality has proven itself and it has been totally worth it.

Save Item

The save item I’ve found for you is from Forever 21. These babies are UNDER $50 and come in BOTH black and brown. They are high-heeled boots so they won’t be under the $20 mark, but I feel that’s a good sign that they might be a bit higher quality by Forever 21 standards. YAYY!? They look super cute though! I like the “sock” style because it will be more fitted all around and stay on the thigh a bit more easily so there isn’t any fussing with pulling them up every three steps. If you are still worried about quality and how well they will hold up, just take extra steps to care for them and you should be fine (i.e. waterproof spray, etc.).

Splurge Item

The splurge item is very similar to my own closet staple both in price and style. This pair is a bit more designed and goes a little higher on your leg than my own personal pair. Bonus though, this pair is currently ON SALE, but I don’t know for how long. Really, you can’t go wrong with any over-the-knee boots but make sure that they fit right for you, are comfortable, and that you have an idea of how you want to style them. Make sure you don’t just get them because they are on trend. If you are worried, start with the save item to test it out in your wardrobe and upgrade to this splurge pair later on.

So what are you waiting for? Go out and snag a pair for those holiday ensembles or better yet, add it to your holiday wish list! Thank you again to Adrienne for the inspiration for this series. If you want to go check out her blog, and you should, click here.
